Well, it's been a long and dry winter for me, creatively. I've been uninspired with writing, too cold and tired for performing and generally feeling pretty blah about my work as a whole.
But thanks to my lovely Mastermind Group - myself and three other songwriters, who meet to analyse what we're doing as artists and writers, how we could do it better, and help each other get better and promotion and social media and performance - I'm moving forward on some things.
This month we're filming clips for YouTube, to add depth to our online presence and to hopefully attract and engage new or fringe fans. I'm really enjoying thinking more deeply about myself as an artist and what I offer my listeners.
So keep your eyes out for more video's on my website soon.
I also had a chance encounter with a guy in my building, who, it turns out, has a home recording set up in his apartment and has been looking for artists to work with. He talked about what he wanted to produce and it's just what I have been hoping to find a partner to work on! So now I'm excited about where that might go and the new direction of sound it will take me in. I'll keep you posted as it develops.
I've also started a new co-write with my good friend and co-writer, Pal Sheldon. Pal lives in Nashville and is well worth a listen if you haven't heard of him. I love writing with Pal, his style is gentle and sensitive, yet his skills are highly honed. And the discussions we're having around the topic of the song are fantastic. Can't wait till he visits in November to catch up and write and hopefully hang out a bit.
I hope all of you in the southern hemisphere are enjoying this balmy weather. Love, love love spring, when it finally arrives - I'm sick of being cold!!!
